Tube Cutting Methods

Currently, there are many methods to cut tubes to specified lengths. Among others, a tube cutter, a hacksaw, an orbital tube cutter or a miter saw can be used, depending on the requirements you have.
Below we have listed the most important features of the different cutting methods. No further modification was made to the pipe ends shown after cutting.

Tube cutter

  • The tube is tapered due to the notch effect and needs more time for deburring.
  • Cutting time: 10-20 sec.
  • Mobile use possible
  • Suitable for small quantity

Hacksaw

  • The tube is raw and needs more time for deburring.
  • Cutting time: 5-10 sec.
  • Mobile use in connection with a vice conditionally possible
  • Suitable for small quantity

Orbital tube cutter

  • Chipping remain at the end of the tube and end face must be machined
  • Cutting time: 5-10 sec.
  • No mobile use possible
  • Suitable for medium quantity

Miter saw

Rohrende, zugeschnitten mit Kappsäge

  • The tube is cut cleanly and needs little time for deburring.
  • Cutting time: 3-7 sec.
  • No mobile use possible
  • Suitable for larger quantities
